It's gotta have backwards compatability. One of the main reasons for PS2's success is the backwards compatability. When Xbox Next is released all the old Xbox games will be at bargain prices, the perfect chance to get those games you thought would be good but never wanted to take a risk on. One thing I've been thinking of latley is if the Xbox Next is backwards compatable, could it also enhance the graphics of origional Xbox games to look as good as Xbox Next games?

sadly, it wont be able to. games are programed to take the max system usage they can... instead of programming "use all the memory" they know they have ab amount of memory so they program "use ab" xbox next will have xy but the programs ared only made with ab so it will use ab... i might not have explained it good, but if yo need clarification, ill try to write it again

but... (sorry, just thought of this) most games that have lags and framerate issues would be fixed in backward compatibility. if a game lags its because there too many things goin on in the screen, each thing takes memory, and that memory can only go so far. is gotta get x amount of memory done in y time, if x exceeds y it has more to get done before it can start over. but y will be increased in xboxnext, so these framerates with the xbox games will be gone, because it wont overload... this might have not made sense either

You put "bigger hard drive" in your poll questions. This really gives me a giggle. We might not even see a hard drive at all. MS has a Japanese company contracted for a product they don't even produce yet. This product is ultra-high compacity memory card. Most likely, we won't be seeing a hard drive in the "Xbox next." Backwards compadibility means nothing to me. The more they are backwards compadible, the less we move forward. That was very true with the PS2. Also, if you have games from the last machine that you wanted to play, that would also mean you probably have the last machine. How hard is it to buy an AV switch for this? The "Xbox Next" needs better hardware, more customizability, better software, and better games. Hopefully most of which will be using a matured version of XNA. The one and only thing I do want backwards compadible is the controllers. This is very important to me. The original Xbox controller is truely my dream come true. It's one of the few controllers that fit my exeptionally large hands. Also because the new "Xbox Next" controllers will be small and wimpy like the Controller S. Another thing, Gemini, you're old enough. Learn to use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. This is a message board, not a chatroom.

(sorry to be a prick) Gemini next time you want to add something just edit your previous post, especially if no one posted after it. Yeh and the grammer could use a touch up :)
Back on topic. To Wulf. I compleatly disagree with your opinion of the origional contollers. IMO they were an obomination, sure they'd be good if you had huge hands, but I found it really uncomfortable. I had to reach with my thumbs to get at the buttons, not good, but MS rectifyed this by introducing the Controller S. It's by far the best contoller I've ever used, they should keep that one for the Xbox Next (we'll just call it that until anything else is stated by MS). I can see where your coming from with your point about backwards compadibility and you've swayed me off it. I still want a hard drive though, I remain sceptile over this new memory card. Sounds a bit slack to me. If I only ever need to buy one for all my games it'll be alright, but if (like the PS2 and GC) I have to buy a handfull I'll be a bit annoyed.

Let's get things straightened out here. :-/ Backwards compatibility would mean Controller S would work, too. And I understand why you don't like the original. But my hands are so big that I even have to pull my wrist away a bit just to get to the analog stick without overshooting.[on the original] With the Controller S my fingers could wrap around it twice! :-[ But to call either an abomination is a foul to be sure. It's all matter of preference, and how big your hands are. ;D About the hard drive. I absolutely want one in the Next Xbox. :) The hard drive was original, and it was a really big thing. [and useful!] Not only that, but you didn't have to buy something extra [which can be quite expensive I might add] just to play your games. ;D I don't care how high capacity it is, it still doesn't come stock, and you still have to buy it separate. >:(

This IMO is what Xbox Next needs to beat Sony is the next gen. 1. It needs to be released before the new playstations and gamecubes. 2. It has to have a couple of awesome release games to get it selling. Halo is what sold Xbox's when it was first released. 3. It has to be fairly cheap so the casual gamer can afford to own one. If MS pulls those three things off I belive Xbox Next will beat Sony's new machine.
